Seven Days

Channel Four have created there most sickeningly voyeuristic show yet with Seven Days. Following around a group or annoyingly self-absorbed Notting Hill cronies as they go about their daily business. Sort of like Channel Fours answer to The Hills only with one crucial difference, the publics opinion really matters on this one and we have the opportunity to vote and dictate that lifes of those on screen. Because, as proved time and time again with the likes of Big Brother and The X-Factor, the public really does know best. Pah. What concerns me is that this is pretty much Big Brother gone Trueman Show, gone wrong. Is this a step too far for reality television? I mean these contestants whom may invoke the adoration or indeed the rage and distaste of the general public are not locked up within the confines of a save Big Brother house, they are in the real world. They live and walk among us. Whilst at the same time being transformed into Z-list celebrities, do any of the contestants truly realise the impact that this may have on their lives? It’s all a bit worrying for me. Image: Alex no logo 2010-09-24 18:00:00
As I am sure that you are all well aware, the Pope recently visited the UK. The problems of which caused disruption to traffic, rail and tube stations, protests and an almighty cost of a reported £20million of tax payers money. What a complete and utter waste. Why on earth are we being made to foot the bill of a religious visit for a religion that everyone in the country doesn’t even follow. Would we fork out to pay for a Muslim religious festival or a Bhuddist one? No of course not. If we did there would outrage at such a thing, yet somehow we have been able to justify spending this amount of money on the Pope. The head of one of the richest organisations in the world – Christianity. How can we possibly justify this when the country is in the midst of a recession and areas like the NHS and education system are constantly suffering from a lack of funding. I have nothing against supporting and being respectful of religious views but I think we need to think carefully and realistically before cashing out on such trips. I am thoroughly disgusted.
